Building Avenues Foundation was founded in 2022 to implement our novel model of shared housing to help people with housing insecurity. Frank and Sherri help people and families with safe, affordable shared housing in appreciating neighborhoods. To implement our vision, we used our retirement funds to purchase homes to change the recovery housing model that has existed for 50 years.
We buy single family homes in safe neighborhoods for people in recovery from substance use disorder or addiction, veterans, women and men who are justice involved, foster adults and people in need of safe, secure housing. We provide outstanding housing. Our social service partners provide funding, services and supervision.
Our focus is person and team centered. We partner with agencies who provide support for our shared clients. We provide outstanding housing. We invest in people and are changing the world.
Frank and Sherri change the lives of real estate investors who want to copy our housing model. We share our knowledge in classes we created at Shared Housing Solutions, LLC. By teaching people what we do, we expand our reach, have national impact and help more people.
We are socialpreneurs committed to changing society while earning a profit to expand our work. We train other people who own or rent real estate on how to have profit and purpose. Our model creates financial security for you and housing security for others.
We created the model of housing, we are housing people in houses we purchased and we know shared housing firsthand. Our goal is to have a Kate’s House in Every City in the US.

Building Avenues Foundation comprise six single-family homes in Seattle, housing 50 men and women. They have trained 1000s of people to duplicate the Kate’s House Model of Level II Medically Assisted Treatment homes in great neighborhoods. We have separate homes for men and women. Our clients include the Veteran’s Administration, Department of Corrections, King County Drug Court, and LEAD. Our clients have housing insecurity related to previous background, justice issues substance use or prior addiction. All our clients are currently working or in diversion programs with the organizations that we work with.
Our vision is to build the best recovery houses—one with mutual support, zen, compassion, and kindness. We have the obligation of teaching people to be self-sufficient and have confidence. Through this, we recognized that addiction is a treatable disease.
Our founders realized that they could replicate their model and help others own real estate to serve others. Shared Housing Solutions, LLC and Kate’s House Foundation were born to help other investors own real estate in a shared housing model.
This doesn’t surprise me one bit! Seeing y’all up there, representing real change for those that need it the most.
I am personally a testament to the work /ethics /compassion/ morals that these 2 phenomenal humans put into each and every human that steps through any of the multiple front doors they offer!
They have gone so far, as to create specialized home environments for everyone’s different needs (and let’s be honest, we’re a needy bunch).
They don’t believe one size fits all, and they have ensured that they have all staff in place to recognize needs immediately and then take action! Too many “transitional housing” programs do not even assist in transitioning to the next step, which is independence.
I personally lived in the same Kate’s house, in the same bedroom for 18 months. It was the most normalizing, stabilizing and humanizing loving situation I could have ever imagined. Due to the foundation they created for me, as a felon who spent 4.5 yrs incarcerated, a launch pad to create my real life. I have started my own LLC, renting a legitimate place, have my license back and most important am a mother and a regular member of society that now votes!
